What is Sterling Silver?
Sterling silver is an alloyed form of silver, making it a perfect material to use in jewelry and metalwork. Fine Silver is alloyed with copper to create sterling silver, 92.5% pure silver, and 7.5% copper. This percentage of fine silver is why you will sometimes see sterling silver referred to as '925 silver' or hallmarked with a 925 stamp.
Adding additional metals can make sterling silver substantially stronger, making it a perfect material for silverware, plates, platter and of course jewelry! Our sterling silver jewelry is safe to wear in water and can be worn everyday!
All silver pieces in our collection are certified sterling silver and are marked with a 925 stamp.
What is 14K Gold Filled?
Unlike sterling silver, gold filled is not an alloy. Gold filled is composed of a layer of real gold mechanically bonded to a base metal with heat and pressure. Gold filled jewelry is only available in 10K, 12K, and 14K gold.
Other materials such as gold plating can wear off quickly, expose the metal underneath, and will not stand up to heat, wear and water over time. Gold filled does not flake, rub off or turn different colours. Our gold filled jewelry is safe to wear in water and can be worn everyday!
Although gold filled does contain real gold, it cannot be truly considered real gold. Gold filled is a fraction of the cost of solid gold, while still maintaining the same beautiful look and longevity.
All gold filled pieces in our collection are 14K gold filled.
What is 14K Rose Gold Filled?
Similar to gold filled, rose gold filled is composed of a layer of real gold mechanically bonded to a base metal with heat and pressure, the only difference is the colour of the material.
With rose gold filled, copper is mixed with the alloy to create that outstanding rosy tint. Essentially, both gold filled and rose gold filled contain the same amount of real gold - the only difference is the other metals that are combined to create the 14K gold alloy.
Just like gold filled, our rose gold filled jewelry is safe to wear in water and can be worn everyday!
All rose gold pieces in our collection are 14K rose gold filled.
What is 14K Solid Gold?
Solid gold is exactly what the name suggests - the material is made entirely of gold, inside and out (no base metal). Karats are used to determine the amount of gold vs. alloy in the material.
Gold in its purest form (24 karat) is too soft to be used when making jewelry, so it must be alloyed with other metals to make it stronger and more durable. Solid gold can be either 10K, 14K, 18K or 24K.
Solid gold is the best quality out there, making it perfect for everyday wear. This material is hypoallergenic, safe in water and will not fade in colour!
All solid gold pieces in our collection are certified 14K solid gold and are marked with an authenticity tag.
